Project Description

Lift Maintenance

SOUTHAMPTON GENERAL HOSPITAL

For many years, Liftec has formed long-standing and close partnerships with numerous NHS Foundation Trust hospitals across the UK, particularly large teaching hospitals. One example is Southampton General Hospital, managed by the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

With such a significant amount of beds (1,362), specialist care and outpatient units along with the Children’s Hospital and A&E, the Trust’s lifts play a vital role in ensuring patients, visitors and staff can freely move around the hospital and be where they need to be at the appropriate time.

In September 2015, following various discussions between the Trust’s building management team and Liftec, we were successfully awarded the long-term maintenance contract for the 42 essential lifts that support the movement of critically-ill patients, hospital staff and visitors.

As part of our contract award, Liftec have provided two locally-based resident engineers undertake on-site servicing works on the passenger and goods lifts during business hours (08:00 – 18:00), ensuring that, during the hospital’s busy periods, potential passenger entrapments and lift failures are without travel delay.

To augment this, our 24-hour, 365-day emergency call-out service is available to respond to calls for assistance.

Since our initial contract award and subsequently supported by the KPIs we have achieved, Liftec have been continually successful with our tender submissions for Southampton General Hospital each year. Liftec is proud to continue working with the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
